The mission of Young Professionals’ University (“YPU” or “YP University”) is to ensure that all children are empowered through education to prepare them for economic self-reliance in the 21st century by leveraging on the experiences of HAULYP members and factual data. YPU aims to offer enrichment programs, through a two part series (Fall and Spring), for Houston area youth that focuses on the following areas:
YP University will engage high school students from grades 9th – 12th, with primary focus on the 11th and 12th graders. We focus on assisting youth from underserved populations in Houston and surrounding areas.
Past attendees have come from a variety of programs including, but not limited to, NULITES, Upward Bound, faith based organizations, local high schools, etc. YPU is held on the campus of a college/university in the Houston and surrounding area in order to expose students to the multitude of options available to them. In the past, the program has been held at The University of Houston – Main Campus, The University of Houston – Downtown Campus, Rice University and Texas Southern University.
Young Professionals University (YPU) is a two-part series that aims to prepare youth to apply to college and inform them about what they should know once they go off to school. The Fall installment of Young Professionals University will focus on preparing students for their freshman year of college. Sessions will focus on the following:
