Lakeisha is the HAULYP Member of the Year for 2015-2016.
She is a native of Houston, TX and attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. for her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. She is currently a Graduate Civil Engineer/Inspector and Certified Floodplain Manager for the City of Houston, where she provides technical knowledge and assistance to the public interested in constructing in the floodplain and to those seeking to repair homes recently affected by flooding events. She has previously worked in the private sector as a Traffic/Transportation Engineer where she designed various traffic calming measures and validated government street and bridge projects in Washington, D.C.
Lakeisha Henderson has been a member of HAULYP since February 2015. She joined the Community Outreach Committee and has enthusiastically participated in various projects such as volunteering in the Book sorting at Houston Public Library’s Book Warehouse, Project Restore at M.C. Williams Engineering Academy, Houston AIDS Walk, Bread of Life Service Projects, Mia’s Closet Back to School Bash, HAUL’s Achievement Matters and several Young Professionals University events. Lakeisha currently serves as the Community Outreach Co-Chair.
Outside of HAULYP and work, Lakeisha enjoys attending concerts, traveling and reading.
