On this special edition of Houston Matters, we devote the entire hour to the two candidates in Houston’s mayoral runoff election: Sylvester Turner and Bill King.
Bill King is a Houston native and an attorney and businessman who served two terms as mayor of the small city of Kemah in Galveston County. For a decade, he wrote a weekly column on politics and public policy for the Houston Chronicle.
Sylvester Turner grew up in Acres Homes in northwest Houston. He’s a graduate of the University of Houston and Harvard Law School. Turner has served District 139 in Harris County in the Texas House of Representatives since 1989.
The two candidates join us in our studio for a free-wheeling discussion about a variety of issues of importance to the city. They also answer questions from News 88.7 reporters, and e-mails from your friends and neighbors.
With election day Saturday, this may be your last opportunity to hear from the candidates.
