Mission

To support the Urban League movement by taking a stand on issues that directly affect public policy, social justice, economic development and community based issues related to the local affiliate and National Urban League.

Vision

To encourage and promote leadership, advocacy, and empowerment among members to bring about effective solutions to challenges through local, regional, and national programs prescribed by the local affiliate, NUL and NULYP.

Community Outreach Committee

Community Outreach allows us to give the most precious gift to others.  That is the gift of our time in serving in volunteer projects.  Most people will tell you “It’s better to give than receive.” Serving in Community Outreach allows you to give of yourself.  As a result, you will receive much more than you can imagine.  Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in your life and the lives of others.

Mission

The overall mission of the Community Outreach Committee is to support the values of our affiliate, HAUL and the National Urban League, through volunteer service that focuses on empowering communities and changing lives.

Vision

It is our goal to embrace and focus on the agenda of the National Urban League through sustainable and quality programming, education and awareness of community and civil issues and to furthermore build relationships and add value to those we serve.

Fund Development Committee

We need people that have the gift of gab, personality, and can think strategically. If you have a knack for establishing and building relationships or raising money (in kind or otherwise) then this is the committee for you. Even if you are new to fund raising or planning events we can help you to develop those skills. Join Fund Development and help to support programs like Small Business University and Urban Youth Empowerment. Fund Development also plans our signature fundraising events such as Opulence Casino Night.

Mission Statement

To increase philanthropic support for HAUL/HAULYP via events, sponsorships, gifts, and in kind donations.

Vision

To be a committee that has key fundraising tactics and relationships in place that enables HAUL/HAULYP to receive reoccurring gifts. To develop and maintain a robust funding stream to cover program and administrative costs of the organization.

Membership & Social Engagement Committee

Stay connected with our large network of young professionals. Work with the Membership and Social committee to host entertaining events throughout the year. The cultural diversity of Houston creates many opportunities for our members to engage in exciting events.

Mission

The mission of the membership committee is to actively engage and retain prospective and existing young professionals while leveraging their skills and resources as active participants of the Urban League Movement. Support the organization by fostering a family environment that propagates inclusion and fun through well planned appropriate events. Host events focused on being trendy and consistent in order to draw people in and keep them engaged with the Urban League movement

Vision

The membership committee will actively engage perspective members this year by identifying places in the community to reach out to young professionals about the Urban League Movement, while ensuring our current members have exclusive events that promote leadership within HAULYP. Present signature events and cultural experiences on a local level that serve as opportunities to help further HAUL and HAULYP initiatives and add value to HAULYP’s brand.

The Marketing and Public Relations Committee will manage the HAULYP brand on its website, electronic newsletters and social media, increase the level of engagement and participation of its members and maintain an accurate history of its activities.

Social and Cultural Committee

Mission

To orchestrate cultural and social events geared towards retaining and recruiting new members while raising money for HAULYP of which some will be contributed to HAUL

Vision

This committee will first and foremost seek to foster a family environment that propagates inclusion and fun. There will be a focus on tweaking each event to raise money, but the most important goals are for the events to be trendy and exciting in order to provide a consistent product to both members and prospective members. The Social and Cultural Committee will coordinate events that nurture the social and cultural needs of the membership.
